Dr. Satyapal Singh (Tomar) is currently the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from BJP. In the Parliamentry election from Bagpat Constituency in mid-May 2014, he defeated Chaudhary Ajit Singh, then Civil Aviation Minister and the MP, From Bagpat.

Dr. Satyapal Singh is a former IPS officer (Maharashtra cadre) who voluntarily got retirement from Indian Police Service, before contesting election.

Born on November 29, 1955, in Basauli in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Singh had aimed to become a scientist before he joined the IPS. He is a post-graduate in chemistry and has also done his M Phil (Chemistry). He has secured an MBA from Australia and is also has an MA and Ph.D in Public Administration.

Mr. Singh’s first posting was assistant superintendent of police of Nasik. He then went on to become the superintendent of police of Buldhana.

Prior to being appointed the Mumbai police chief, Mr Singh was Maharashtra’s additional director general of police. He has also served as the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Mumbai, Nagpur’s police commissioner special inspector general of police of the Konkan range.

He has also been on deputation to the CBI and received a special service medal for extraordinary work in the in Naxalite areas of Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. He received the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service in 2004, the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service in 1996 and the DG’s Insignia in the same year.

Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth

Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth took over as the Vice-Chancellor of the Gujarat Technological University on December 31, 2016. A renowned educationist and administrator, Prof. Sheth started his academic career way back in 1979 and during the course of time, emerged as a tireless academician and herbal scientist.


Born in Modasa town of Aravalli district of Gujarat, Prof. Sheth had his early education in his hometown. He obtained his B.Pharm. and M. Pharm degrees from L. M. College of Pharmacy, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, the oldest pharmacy college of India. He was awarded the National Merit Scholarship for his graduation studies. He obtained Ph.D. degree from the Saurashtra University, Rajkot.


He started his academic career in 1979 as an assistant lecturer at the B. K. Mody Government Pharmacy College, Rajkot and was gradually promoted as the Lecturer, Reader and Principal there. In 2007, he joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Saurashtra University, Rajkot as the Professor and Head. He has also served the Saurashtra University under various capacities like the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, the Chairman, Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Member of the Senate and the Academic Council.


A distinguished academician, staunch disciplinarian and an efficient administrator, Prof. Sheth has also been the Member of the Peer Teams of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council – NAAC and NBA. He has also served as the Member and Chairman of the various Committees of UGC/ AICTE /DST/ GUJCOST and several Universities in India. He had been the Advisor and later on, Member of the GPSC. In 2016, he took over as the Chairman of the Board of Pharmacy Education, AICTE.


Prof. Sheth has attended many national and international conferences in India and abroad. His research interests include Traditional Drugs, Herbal Drugs and Standardization, Herbal formulations. His exuberant involvement in R&D has been recognized by his 100+ publications including 65 technical papers in renowned research journals, 42 papers in National Conferences 21 papers in the International Conferences.


Till 2017, 20 research scholars had successfully completed their doctoral research under his guidance. At present, 8 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. under his supervision. About 21 of his former PG students are occupying key positions in the various fields of Pharmacy.


Prof. Sheth is awarded by Life Time Achievement Award at KLE University, Karnataka during 20th National Conference of ISP at Belgaum, Karnatak, Indian Society of Pharmacognosy 2017 at Aurangabad and World Education Convention 2017 at New Delhi.


Prof. Sheth has been associated with various national and international associations and professional bodies as a member or a life member; these include Indian Society of Technical Education, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Indian Society for Pharmacognosy, the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India, All India Council Of Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council Of India (PCI), Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University and B. V. Patel Pharmaceutical Education & Research Development (PERD) Centre.


His dream, vision, mission and efforts are directed towards making the Gujarat Technological University to a world class University in the field of Science and Technology.

Dr. Rajiv Sharma

Dr. Rajiv Sharma has a multifaceted career spanning more than 32 years of conceptualizing, implementing and monitoring programs in the science & technology arena through various assignments during his tenure at the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur wherein he did his doctoral work on mathematical modelling of physiological fluid systems and graduated in 1987.


He has travelled extensively across the globe for developingbilateral S&T cooperation programs with France, Israel, Japan and the United States, as well as with African and Nordic countries. These efforts have led to the execution of a large number of bilateral and multilateral scientific activities such as research projects, workshops, training schools, fellowships and access to advanced facilities.


He has the distinction of being the first Indian Co-Chair of the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre and of the US-India Science and Technology Endowment Board.


In his capacity as the Executive Director of Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF) for over 4 years, he expanded Indo-US bilateral activities considerably to cover a large number of stakeholders ranging from high school to undergraduatestudents, and also researchers in a spectrum of young entrants to the innovators and entrepreneurs. During his term, two major programmes were initiated viz. the Indo-US Joint Clean Energy Research & Development Centre (JCERDC)and the US-India Science & Technology Endowment Fund for promotion of S&T led innovations and entrepreneurship.


He is also the Scientist ‘G’ & Head of the Technology Missions Division of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India which implements Nano Science & Technology Mission, Clean Energy Research Initiative, Water Technology Initiative and the National Supercomputing Mission.


Dr Rajiv Sharma takes over the additional charge of Secretary, Science & Engineering Research Board w.e.f 01 March 2017.

Dr. Deepak Garg

He is a chief consultant for algorithmguru.com, a resource for algorithms. Deepak is considered as one of the Algorithm Gurus in India. He has done his Ph.D. in efficient algorithm design in 2006.  His active research interests are designing efficient deep learning algorithms. He is Senior Member of IEEE, Senior Member of ACM and Life Member of CSI, IETE. He served as chair of IEEE Computer Society, India Council from 2012-2016 and on the Board of governors of IEEE Education Society, USA (2013-15).

He started his career as a Software Engineer in IBM Corporation Southbury, CT, USA and then served as Professor and head Computer Science Engineering at Thapar University, Patiala for 16 years. He has guided 11 PhD and 35 Master Students. He has handled funding of around INR 30 million from different grant issuing bodies including an International Project from Royal Academy of Engineering, UK on Mini-MOOCs. Prof Garg has 100+ publications in various International Journals and conferences with 500+ citations and Google h-index of 13. In his 20 years of experience he has delivered 200+ invited talks across the country. Deepak is an ABET PEV and serves on ABET criteria review committee of Computing Accreditation Commission. Dr Garg is Chair, Steering Committee for Annual IEEE International Advance Computing Conference (IACC-2009 – ongoing) and Chair, Steering Committee, Annual IEEE International MOOCs, Innovation and Technology in Education Conference (MITE-2012 – Ongoing). Deepak is an active blogger in Times of India with the tag name of “Breaking Shackles” and is passionate about transforming the landscape of Indian Higher Education.

Dr. Archana Mantri

Dr Archana Mantri is PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering with 28 years of experience in Research, Development, Training, Academics and Administration of Institutes of Higher Technical Education. Her areas of expertise are Project Management, Problem and Project Based Learning, Curriculum Design & Development, Pedagogical Innovation and Management. Her areas of interest include Change Management, Education Technology, Cognitive Sciences, Predictive Analysis, Technical Writing, Assessment Technologies, Augmented Reality (AR) and Electronics & Communication Engineering. She is on the board of international experts in Indo-Universal Collaboration of Engineering Education (IUCEE) and advises in the areas of Pedagogical Innovations.
